Sophie, our beloved Collie Girl, my furry soul-mate and our foundation to our kennel SnoValley. Sophie is the reason we are involved with the Collie today. She's the one who touched our hearts  significantly and changed the direction of our lives, leading us to discover the importance of preserving this treasured breed. So much more than a dog, she was a companion extraordinaire. Her patience, kindness and fun loving bubbly personality won her friends everywhere she went.  Incredibly smart and athletic, she never ceased to amaze us with her ability to "fly" for her Frisbee as if she were the size of a Jack Russell Terrier, not a 55 pound Collie. In fact in her younger years, up to age 10 and occasionally at 11, she spent more time in the air when playing, than on the ground.

We've put together a video tribute to Sophie and her legacy she's left here at SnoValley. It includes a showcase of action shots and other images that tell the story of her remarkable life. Included in the lengthy list of the ways she inspired us is her endless flying for her beloved Frisbee and in playing. She was the catalyst for me to learn about action photography. To see this video click on the link or the images of her above to view it in YouTube. It was shot in HD 1080 and has audio.  Sophie Tribute Video

This is another link to a video that demonstrates just the kind of Collie girl she was, it was shot when she was almost 11.  This was not one of her or our pups, but a new pup who had come to live with us.  She had endless patience with young pups, not only her own.  I always said she was investing in making them into a future playmate, since for Sophie, that was her heart to have fun and enjoy life.  She was the first of our treasured Bubble Girls!  What a legacy she has left.  Video of Sophie playing/welcoming new pup

Thank you to Nancy McDonald and www.collieexpressions.com for the beautiful spread she created for Sophie in the recent issue of Collie Expressions magazine. And thank you to all of our puppy families for doing all that they have with their pups down from Sophie and for being a part of her legacy!

And especially thank you to Alene and her Mother Pat for entrusting us with such a treasure in Sophie. We will miss her immensely.

This is an image of Sophie's special Dreams Come True litter at 3 days old (no Photo Shopping of the 3 day pup image in box).  I later Photo Shopped the corresponding pup's headshot taken at 8 weeks below their 3 day image.

The next two images were shot just before Sophie's 9th birthday.

These last two images I shot the Fall of 2016 during a playtime with Sophie and her Granddaughter Gracie, when Sophie was eleven and a half.  Gracie is also an avid Frisbee player like her Grandma! Sophie will turn thirteen this Summer 2018.  I couldn't love her more and am grateful everyday she is with us.

When the above image was shot Sophie was still defying the odds of gravity at not far from 12  years young!
